Montauk State Park, Salem, MO
Not only is Montauk peaceful but, did you know Montauk State Park produces over 1 million trout a year to release into the Current River? Production doubled as soon as they figured out a way to oxygenate the water more efficiently!
I love visiting the hatchery. It becomes a feeding frenzy when they think you have something for them. I always saw strange boxes in the canals but there was never anyone around to ask about them until this year.
Turns out they were sorting boxes. Scoop fish up. Put fish in. Little fish slide through the bars. Big fish get put in holding box for release into the wild.
I get my fishing pole and catch a brown trout two inches long………

How great is that, that they turn out that many trout! Great post and photos. Don’t know why I couldn’t get it at first, but glad I finally did. Blessings, Natalie
I’m not sure what happened. I have had it happen before though. It is showing on my home page as 995? I’m glad it shows up though!
