St. Jude Catholic Church, Salem, MO.
It was cloudy and rainy when we came across this quaint little Catholic Church as we were headed to the trout hatchery at Montauk State Park. St. Jude’s was built in 1968 and it must have been a labor of love for the capenters who built it. The logs used were hand hewn! There are rustic touches around the grounds – log benches and split rail fences. The tile meditation wall was beautiful. I am not particularly a religious person, but the grounds were peaceful and the ivy draped cross was a powerful symbol lying on the ground. The ivy reminded me of the shroud the way it draped over one side.
One Response to A Labor of Love
Oh my, what a lovely place and I adore the cross on its side. Blessings, Natalie
